Thank you, Celeste! Going forward I plan to continue working with a local group that advocates for justice for marginalized groups, and especially for the LGBTQIA+ community. We are planning ways to be more visible in the media and on the street, and to break through the disinformation that will emanate from the regime over the next four years.

Sending you love and Billie both love and hugs !! XOXO

My plans for the coming year include:

1. Maintain quiet visibility. I’ve been out and about now for about 2 1/2 years. During that time, I have mentioned being transgender to family, old acquaintances, and many people that I interact with on a more than incidental basis. So far they’ve all been accepting. I’ve also joined a local church that is not just affirming but accepting and supportive of the LGBT community. I’m not even the only transgender member. We did a special service for the Transgender Week of Awareness where the message was an interview of the two of us.

2. Build and support my community. I’ve made an amazing number of friends during this transition time. We are lucky to have a very good Transgender Resource Center here. They just moved into a new location with much more space. I support some of their efforts and participate in a TransFemme support group that they host. I also have a couple trans friends who live up in the Taos area. I drive up there every few months to just have fun but also engage in some supportive activities.

3. I’m also looking for ways to influence state and local politics. This will include support for maintaining and perhaps strengthening protections for the LGBT community. But another goal will be to get state and city governments to work together to meaningfully improve conditions for the unhoused population. And of course many of those are also transgender.
