Thank you for this Celeste! I was always taught growing up that communion is not only for those who deserve it, but those who need it. Gatekeeping Jesus and God is one of the reasons I’ve lost faith in the church itself. I haven’t taken communion in a long time because I hesitate to open myself up to the potential betrayal to what I feel are the basis of Jesus teachings. I do miss the community of a church, but I don’t miss having to shove a piece of myself down still be accepted by those in power.

That absolutely makes sense - it's so sad to me how few churches even *might* be safe.
This makes my heart happy. Jesus would never exclude anyone. ❤️
